Position

Rugare Zimunya is a social worker, gender and development expert as well as human rights defender with over five years of experience consulting and working with different organizations in building capacities in gender equality and women’s rights, reproductive and maternal health, education programming, sexual reproductive health, and mental health. Rugare is a co-founder of For Equality and has previously served as both Programmed Lead and Executive Director. She continues to provide technical and programme support to various projects in line with economic justice as well as gender justice in Malawi and the Africa region.

Rugare has a particular interest in sexual reproductive health and rights, child protection, women, children, and disability rights as well as the intersectionality in social systems and the impact of this, on overall healthy community development and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Global Health Delivery, with a specialization in Gender, Sexual Reproductive and Health Rights.
